I think tickets should be fixed price for all, which is a purchase. I love to travel, but sucks for shopping around traveling alone amounts.
Why are single people not able to buy vacation packages at a locked rate like couples?

Yeah I travel alone all the time & stay away from packages since I know the price will be higher. It’s all to make extra money(gift shops, meals, activities, tips), so I can understand why. Look for good airfares and stick to smaller/quaint hotels. I don’t like resorts because I feel like I am missing out on discovering my destination because I am at the hotel trying to make the most out of what I paid for. I tend to rent apartments and villas when I can, since it works out cheaper and I get to see a lot more of where I am (as well as sample the local cuisine). At least as a single traveler you know you can come and go as you please without having to worry about someone else.
Hotels and things want two people in the room to get the most out of it. The rooms are big enough to hold two, minimum, so they base rates on double adult occupancy. This way, they can get the most people in. This means more people spending money in the gift shop, using room service, dining in the hotel, etc. If all their rooms only had one person, that would cut profits in half.
However, you should still be able to go at a single rate. You will pay half of the price of the room, then half of the other half of the room. 150% of the room rate. So you won’t be paying full rate, but you will still be paying more per person than if two people goes.
Now, this should still apply for different vacations, not just the room. You are paying more per person, but you aren’t actually paying the full rate for the second peron that isn’t actually there.
The best thing to do is just look around for offers for single travelers, hopefully you will be able to find some good deals for great travel!
