I’m a student, hence the cheap part, headed to Asia for at least a few months and travel insurance. STA is a little more expensive than I had expected, what can anyone recommend (or see what not)?

The less money$$ you spend the better.

STA is a good start. You also might want to check http://www.quotewright.com, it’s a travel insurance comparison site that quotes the major travel insurance plans. If you’re not looking for a plan that will include trip cancellation coverage than you should be able to find an inexpensive plan.
