Any travel tips for Vietnam and Cambodia, sample itinerary for the must-see places in these countries?

My friends are planning to go to Vietnam and Cambodia for about a week. If I here from people who have visited these countries, love. Any tips on cheap but decent accommodation, food, best places to go and things to do? Or some example route? Any personal experience will be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance. ^ _ ^ We really are not on the beach or swimming are we more about the famous places, must-see must,-do, best places for the first time tourists. We would also like to sample the local cuisine.

So I am always hearing about people finding these crazy cheap travel deals where are they?

I want to spend like 500 a person for a week, where some beautiful beaches. I have heard of people spending like 300 for this type of trip, but I sure cannot find anything this cheap Travelocity, Expedia, Orbitz, or something. Thanks
