I want to go from London to Paris, what’s the cheapest way? Plus any travel tips!?

A friend and I are planning a trip from New York City to London. We plan to stay there for about five days. But we also want to go to Paris and see all there and stay for about five days. What is the cheapest way to do this, there is a train or something simple? Also any ideas on cool things to do, or prices or anything would be great. Know of any hotels that are inexpensive, but nice (we are students). Thank you!
